Brett Williams, PhD, LCMHCA, NCC
Brett received a BA in Psychology from Wake Forest University and earned both his MS and PhD in counseling from UNCG.
Brett has counseling experience in private practice, crisis intervention, college counseling, and non-profit agency settings. He enjoys working with individuals, couples, and groups from diverse cultures and lifestyles; believing acceptance, respect, and genuineness are characteristics essential in this process. He has experience working with adolescents and adults, providing personal, psychoeducational, and psychosocial counseling services. Brett specializes in working with clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and high stress/pressure careers.
Brett’s counseling approach draws from person-centered techniques as well as skills from Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He believes that the primary process of counseling involves helping clients to focus on their strengths while developing the necessary skills to address themes related to their present problem(s) or underlying issues.
