Jennifer Schenker, MS, EdS, LCMHCA, NCC
Jennifer Schenker received her BA degrees in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in 2012. She went on to complete her MS and EdS degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UNCG in 2015.
Jennifer provides individual and group counseling to adolescents and adults in her practice. Her approach to counseling is person-centered which means that she believes clients are the authority of their own lives. She also has a great interest in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt Therapy and integrates techniques from several other counseling theories in order to utilize those that may be the best fit for clients’ situations and personalities.
Jennifer also likes to use art, music, and animals in her counseling sessions, when appropriate. Her goal for counseling is to encourage and empower clients through empathetic listening and collaborative goal setting. Some of her clinical interests include: relationship/peer issues, depression, anxiety, transitional issues, grief, trauma, identity, self-esteem/self-worth, LGBTQ, regulating emotions, and stress management. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, arts and crafts, reading, cooking, writing, making jewelry and candles, gardening, meditating, playing with her bird and cat, and spending time with her husband and other loved ones.
Jennifer also manages the Santé Counseling practice and helps get new clients matched and scheduled with a counselor, provides support to Santé staff and existing clients, maintains the plant life in and around Santé, and takes care of the day-to-day practice operations.
