Cary is a second year master’s student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling and is thrilled to join Santé Counseling as an intern this year. She graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 2021 with a B.A. in Psychology and a double minor in Counseling Education and Dance Performance. Originally from Clemson, South Carolina, Cary enjoys watching college football games, spending time with friends and family, and taking the occasional ballet class in her free time.
Therapy is a space for you to come as you are, and feel supported as we navigate life’s challenges together without judgment. Cary emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship and views her clients as the experts on their own life. As a therapist, Cary’s purpose is to hold nonjudgmental space for her clients’ stories and encourage their growth through meaningful reflection. She is interested in a variety of treatment orientations to help her clients meet their goals, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered approach, and Family Systems theory, and uses these and other modalities to tailor the therapeutic journey to each client. Her population of interest ranges from adolescents to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and athletes experiencing sport-related mental distress.
