Originally from Greenville, SC, Mary Elizabeth is a second year master’s student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling. She is honored and excited to join Santé Counseling as an intern this year. Mary Elizabeth graduated from Texas Christian University in 2022 with a B.S. in Psychology and a music minor, specializing in voice. In her free time, Mary Elizabeth enjoys playing guitar, piano, singing, community theater, being involved in her local church, and spending quality time with her friends and dog.

It is impossible to steer a parked car. Therapy, for many, is a way to press the gas pedal on a part of their mental health journey. Starting on unmarked and unfamiliar terrain is oftentimes a daunting experience. Thus, Mary Elizabeth is passionate about providing an open and secure environment in which clients can authentically and safely express themselves. As the client steers their car, Mary Elizabeth partners with and journeys alongside her clients through a creative and compassionate lens. Mary Elizabeth is interested in an eclectic treatment approach to individually meet the needs of each client, including aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Adlerian, Family Systems, and other modalities. Her populations of interest include a wide variety from adolescents to adults experiencing: grief, anxiety, depression, self-identity struggles, and difficult life transitions.
