Sonya Williams, MSW, LCSW

Clinician

Sonya Williams, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, earned her Master of Social Work from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her approach is collaborative and person-centered, as she believes each client is the expert of his/her life. She believes in fostering people's innate resilience to overcome life's challenges through evidence-based practice. 

Sonya addresses issues regarding depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, parenting and family issues, as well as childhood disorders, ADHD, Autism, and intellectual disability. Her training  includes: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (regular and trauma-focused), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Progressive Counting Trauma Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. Additionally she provides Immigration Evaluations and expressive art based therapy groups.

Sonya enjoys utilizing both verbal and nonverbal forms of therapy. Her background and training in play therapy, expressive art therapy and creative writing are important components of her work with clients. She strongly believes that nonverbal forms of expression can often be powerful clinical tools that can enhance the therapeutic experience.
